Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) emerged as the strongest gainer among Bursa Malaysia’s leading daily movers for the week ended Sept 25, while Time dotCom Bhd recorded the steepest decline based on the price movements reported from Sept 21 to Sept 25.
MPI featured among the biggest gainers on Tuesday, surging 40 sen to RM43.20 before jumping another RM1.38 on Wednesday to RM44.58. The semiconductor counter then fell RM1.08 on Thursday before recovering 68 sen on Friday to close at RM44.18.
Based on the reported daily movements, MPI gained RM1.38 across the week.
Time dotCom, meanwhile, suffered its biggest setback at the start of the week, falling 55 sen on Monday to RM5.86. The telecommunications counter did not feature among the daily top movers on the following sessions, leaving Monday’s decline as its reported weekly move.
Hong Leong Bank Bhd was another prominent gainer during the week, rising 36 sen on Monday and another 48 sen on Tuesday. The bank later came under pressure, however, with the gains partially offset by subsequent declines.
Nestlé (M) Bhd saw particularly sharp swings. The stock fell 54 sen on Tuesday to RM89.16 before rebounding 34 sen on Wednesday and surging RM1.96 on Thursday to RM91.46. It then fell RM1.26 on Friday to RM90.20.
Based on the reported daily moves, Nestlé gained 80 sen across the four sessions in which it appeared among the leading movers.
Among other notable counters, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd jumped RM1 on Monday to RM4.34, while Samaiden Group Bhd gained 43 sen to RM2.38. Solarvest Holdings Bhd also added 36 sen to RM3.69.
United Plantations Bhd moved in the opposite direction later in the week, falling 34 sen on Wednesday and another 52 sen on Friday, while Petronas Dagangan Bhd slipped 18 sen on Tuesday before losing another 50 sen on Friday.
Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd was another recurring decliner, falling 50 sen on Wednesday and 36 sen on Friday, for a combined decline of 86 sen across the reported sessions.
Heineken Malaysia Bhd also saw volatile trading, dropping 42 sen on Wednesday before recovering 38 sen on Friday. Hong Leong Industries Bhd similarly fell 34 sen on Wednesday before gaining 30 sen on Friday.
The daily data showed significant rotation throughout the week, with several counters moving sharply in both directions as investors shifted between banking, technology, energy, consumer and plantation stocks.
