Travellers using Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) during the Formula 1 race weekend from Oct 2 to 4 are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys as higher passenger volumes and heavier traffic are expected around the airport and Sepang International Circuit.
AirAsia advised international passengers to arrive at least three hours before departure and domestic passengers at least two hours ahead of their scheduled flights.
Travellers are also encouraged to complete self check-in through the AirAsia MOVE app or website, which is available from 14 days until one hour before departure, and check their latest flight status before leaving for the airport.
Malaysian passport holders travelling internationally can use the MyNIISe or MyBorderPass apps to facilitate immigration clearance at KLIA2. The relevant app should be downloaded and set up before travelling.
The airline also advised passengers to use the Express Rail Link (ERL) for more reliable access to the airport and monitor traffic advisories and road closure announcements from the Royal Malaysia Police.
The F1 weekend is expected to draw large crowds to Sepang as the Bahrain Grand Prix is being held at the circuit from Oct 2 to 4 under a special arrangement.
