Twenty-seven areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8.30am, with Serian district police headquarters in Sarawak recording the highest reading at 174, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Sarawak recorded four areas in the unhealthy category, with Samarahan at 160, Kuching at 158 and Sri Aman at 133.
Johor had eight areas with unhealthy readings. Pasir Gudang recorded 169, followed by Larkin at 168, Tangkak at 167, Batu Pahat at 161, Pengerang and Kota Tinggi at 159 each, Segamat at 153 and Kluang at 142.
In Negri Sembilan, Nilai recorded 164, while Port Dickson and Seremban registered 155 and 152 respectively.
Melaka also recorded three unhealthy readings, with Bandaraya Melaka at 164, Bukit Rambai at 161 and Alor Gajah at 153.
Selangor recorded six areas in the unhealthy category, led by Johan Setia at 161. Shah Alam registered 156, Klang 153, Banting 150, Petaling Jaya 116 and Kuala Selangor 109.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur recorded 158 while Putrajaya registered 154. Rompin in Pahang recorded 152.
Meanwhile, 34 areas recorded moderate API readings. Indera Mahkota Kuantan recorded the highest moderate reading at 99, followed by Balok Baru Kuantan at 98, Jerantut at 77 and Temerloh at 67.
Other moderate readings included Kuala Terengganu at 89, Kemaman at 84, Paka at 79 and Besut at 62. Kota Baru and Tanah Merah in Kelantan recorded 71 and 52 respectively.
In Sarawak, Sibu recorded 71, followed by Samalaju and Mukah at 68 each, Sarikei at 74, Bintulu at 65 and Kapit at 62.
Sabah recorded moderate readings in Tawau at 78, Sandakan at 58 and Politeknik Kota Kinabalu at 53.
In Kedah, Sungai Petani recorded 82 and Kulim Hi-Tech 74, while Alor Star and Langkawi registered 72 and 57 respectively.
Penang’s Minden recorded 81, followed by Balik Pulau at 78, with Seberang Jaya and Seberang Perai at 75 each.
Kangar in Perlis recorded 56. In Perak, Seri Manjung recorded 100, followed by Tanjung Malim at 73, Taiping at 71, Pegoh Ipoh at 70 and Tasek Ipoh at 62. Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur also recorded 100.
Seven areas recorded good API readings. Kimanis in Sabah and Labuan registered 47 each, followed by Keningau at 38, Kota Kinabalu at 25, Miri at 40, ILP Miri at 36 and Limbang at 32.
API readings between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy and 301 and above as hazardous.
