Rapid KL said the Putrajaya MRT Line is experiencing service delays on Sunday morning following a power disruption caused by cable theft, potentially affecting commuters travelling towards Sepang for the Formula One race.
The disruption was detected at about 5.24am, when a train was unable to move along the track due to the loss of power supply.
Rapid KL said the incident was linked to the theft of electrical cables, which affected operations on the line.
The Putrajaya Line is expected to see heavier-than-usual passenger traffic on Sunday as it serves as one of the key public transport links for commuters travelling towards Putrajaya and onward to Sepang, where the Formula One race is being held.
Passengers using the line are advised to allow additional travelling time while recovery works are carried out.
The incident could add pressure to morning travel arrangements for racegoers heading to Sepang, particularly those relying on public transport to avoid anticipated road congestion around the circuit.
In view of the incident, the operator has arranged alternatives and advised those taking the ERL to factor in the delay.
