Bursa Closes Higher As Tech Rally Lifts Asian Markets

Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Oct 6, tracking gains across major Asian markets following Wall Street’s technology-led rally overnight, although elevated US Treasury yields continued to cap risk appetite.

At the closing bell, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 1.60 points, or 0.1%, to 1,633.35 from Oct 5’s 1,631.75. The benchmark traded between 1,632.77 and 1,641.20 during the session.

Broader Market Outperforms

The broader indices recorded stronger gains, with the FBM 70 surging 190.62 points, or 1.09%, to 17,734.11.

The F4GBM added 3.17 points, or 0.32%, to 991.36, while the FBM Emas climbed 42.52 points, or 0.35%, to 12,232.87.

The FBM Shariah posted the strongest percentage gain, rising 89.97 points, or 0.75%, to 12,158.98.

Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded stock, jumping 2.5 sen to nine sen after trading between 6.5 sen and 9.5 sen. About 962.79 million shares changed hands.

Top Glove Corp Bhd surged nine sen to 87.5 sen on approximately 165.13 million shares, while newly listed SLGC Bhd fell three sen to 25 sen with about 83.7 million shares traded.

VS Industry Bhd added one sen to 33 sen on around 74.92 million shares, while Supermax Corp Bhd gained 2.5 sen to 46 sen, with roughly 44.06 million shares changing hands.

Total market turnover eased to 4.18 billion units valued at RM2.95 billion compared to 4.78 billion units worth RM2.89 billion in the previous session.
