Johor Port is close to achieving its target of handling 15 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) this year and is expected to break into the world’s top 10 container ports in 2026.
Johor Port Authority chairman Dr Rosnan Fathlal said the target supports the Transport Ministry’s aim of placing two Malaysian ports among the world’s 10 largest container ports.
He said Johor Port is also expected to rank 11th globally this year, based on combined container throughput at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Pasir Gudang Port.
The performance puts Johor within reach of a top-10 global ranking next year if container volumes continue to expand.
