TalentCorp, MCMC Join Forces To Build Future-Ready Communications Talent

Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are collaborating to align Malaysia’s communications and multimedia workforce with emerging industry needs, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), digital technologies and the green economy.

The two government agencies have jointly undertaken an impact study covering Malaysia’s communications and multimedia sector, mapping 268 job roles and 748 skills while identifying four emerging occupations.

The findings will also support MCMC’s development of the Communications and Multimedia Future Skills Framework, aimed at aligning skills requirements, talent development and career pathways with industry demand.

The study identified four emerging roles — AI engineer, AI ethics officer and edge computing specialist in telecommunications, as well as head of postal inspectorate in the postal and courier subsector.

The 748 skills mapped include future networks, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, digital content production, responsible AI adoption and automation.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the TalentCorp-MCMC collaboration would provide a clearer picture of the skills required by industry as technology and business requirements evolve.

The joint study also proposed 29 strategic initiatives across three subsectors, including measures to develop future technology talent, strengthen AI and digital capabilities, better align education with industry requirements and support responsible technology and green economy adoption.

TalentCorp Group Chief Executive Officer Biruntha Mooruthi said the findings would be used to translate industry requirements into more targeted talent development initiatives and clearer career pathways.
