The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting today to determine the key dates and preparations for the 16th Melaka state election.
The meeting, chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, is scheduled to begin at 10am at a hotel on Jalan Bendahara in Melaka.
A press conference will be held after the meeting to announce the election timetable, including the election writ, nomination day, early voting and polling day as well as the campaign period.
The EC is also expected to provide details on other preparations for the state election.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced the dissolution of the state legislative assembly on Sept 22, effective Sept 23, paving the way for the state election.
The previous Melaka election in 2021 saw Barisan Nasional win 21 of the 28 contested seats to form the state government. Pakatan Harapan won five seats while Perikatan Nasional secured two.
