A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the northern Maluku Sea in Indonesia at 1.11pm on Friday, with no tsunami threat to Malaysia, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10km, with its epicentre located at 0.8° north and 126.0° east, about 124km southeast of Bitung, Indonesia.
MetMalaysia confirmed there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia in a post on X.
