Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across several states in Malaysia until 6 pm on Oct 10, according to a warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 1:45 pm.
The alert covers Perlis, parts of Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
In the northern region, affected areas include Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling in Kedah, as well as parts of Penang and Perak. Kuala Krai and Jeli in Kelantan are also covered, alongside the whole of Terengganu.

In Pahang, the warning applies to Rompin and Jerantut, while affected areas in Selangor include Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling and Hulu Langat. Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka are also under the alert, as are Kulai and Johor Bahru in Johor.
In East Malaysia, the warning covers Lubok Antu in Sarawak’s Sri Aman division, as well as areas in Sabah including Tawau, Semporna, Kunak, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid, Labuk and Sugut, Paitan, Kota Belud, Ranau and Kota Marudu.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions and take precautions against heavy rainfall, strong winds and possible localised flooding.
