Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has officially left bachelorhood behind, marrying singer and actress Bella Astillah in a ceremony at Menara Merdeka Maybank in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 10.
The couple exchanged vows at approximately 10:40 am, with former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri officiating the akad nikah. Syed Saddiq, completed the solemnisation with a single pronouncement and presented Bella, with a mas kahwin of RM500.
The ceremony drew approximately 250 guests, including family members, public figures and friends from the entertainment industry, as the couple marked the beginning of their married life.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, the wedding embraced a white colour scheme with Arabic and Islamic elements. Both Syed Saddiq and Bella wore white for the occasion, while the exchange of wedding gifts added a personal touch to the ceremony.
According to Buletin TV3, the groom presented seven trays of gifts, which were reciprocated with nine trays from the bride’s side. Among Syed Saddiq’s gifts were a package for Bella to pursue a master’s degree and savings for her future. Bella’s offerings included a ring, books and gold. The newlyweds also received a surprise sponsorship for an umrah pilgrimage.
The marriage follows the couple’s engagement on March 28, when they took a step towards formalising their relationship. Their Oct 10 wedding date was announced ahead of the ceremony, with the celebration planned around a concept that reflected their families’ preferences.
However, the celebrations are not limited to the solemnisation. The couple, affectionately known as BASS among their fans, will hold a wedding reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on Oct 18.
From there, the festivities will continue with a Kenduri Rakyat in Syed Saddiq’s constituency of Muar, Johor, on Oct 25, followed by another gathering in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Oct 31.
For Syed Saddiq, the wedding marks a personal milestone alongside his role as Muar’s Member of Parliament. Bella, meanwhile, enters a new chapter while continuing to be recognised for her work in the Malaysian entertainment industry.
With the akad nikah completed, the couple’s attention now turns to the receptions and public celebrations ahead, extending their wedding festivities beyond Kuala Lumpur to communities in Johor and Sabah.
