MPH set to close several outlets

According to MalayMail, bookstore chain MPH will be closing down two off its Klang Valley outlets. The news report further states that the two outlets that are confirmed to be closed this Saturday would be the ones in MyTown and Subang Parade.

Malay Mail has also reported that the MPH branch in Sunway Geo has already been closed, and the next branch rumoured to close down is the branch in the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

“Our last business day will be on Saturday which is why at the back end all the shelves have been empty for some time now,” MalayMail quoted one of the staff member of the MyTown outlet, who remained anonymous.

MPH has yet to issue any official statement on the closures of these branches. Online platform, SAYS has also reported that a viral post on social media platform, Facebook has stated that 9 MPH branches are set to close down.

In recent news as well, Taiwan’s Eslite Bookstore is set to open its first Southeast Asian store in KL. While initial opening dates were set in 2021, it is currently uncertain due to the ongoing pandemic.
