Tourism Selangor launches Eager to Travel? Pusing Selangor Dulu! campaign

The Selangor State Government through its official Tourism Promotion Agency, Tourism Selangor has launched the Eager to Travel? Pusing Selangor Dulu! campaign.

The campaign aims to strengthen the State’s domestic tourism. It was initially introduced upon the re-opening of domestic tourism announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), after the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) in June.

Due to the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism industry, the State Government has taken the first step in announcing two Economic Stimulus Packages, and an Economic Recovery Plan which was announced by Amirudin bin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor on July 13.

The Economic Recovery Plan includes a Tourism Aid Package with a total allocation of a staggering RM 2,600,000.00.

RM 553,000.00 from this amount was given as a one-off incentive amounting to RM 1,000 per person. The amount was officially handed over to 553 recipients on November 19 by the State Government.

The recipients comprise 486 members of the Selangor Tourist Guide Association (SGTA), 16 homestay coordinators authorised by MOTAC, and 51 Selangor Community Hosts.

The second element to the Tourism Aid Package is the publication of Selangor’s Tourism Voucher subsidy with an allocation of RM 2,000,000.00.

The voucher was offered in the form of electronic wallet cash-backs and electronic vouchers amounting to RM 200 for each successful registrant. The vouchers have to be used to purchase from a list of tourism packages offered on the electronic wallet application,  Touch n’ Go E-Wallet, and marketplace application, Lazada Malaysia featured via a special micro-link.

The vouchers will commence sales on both e-commerce platforms from Jan 8 to Jan 31, 2021. The vouchers come with validity until June 31, 2021. In honouring the frontliners, Selangor State Government is offering a 3,000-application quota, special to Selangor’s frontliners combatting Covid-19 in the State.

Additionally, a total of 17 Eager to Travel? Pusing Selangor Dulu tourism packages were also launched in partnership with Tourism Selangor and the Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA). The partnership involves the coordination and the efforts in putting together a list of Selangor’s tourism packages which are then to be marketed by tourism agencies registered with MITA.

The campaign is fueled by the digital platform with a majority of its initiatives carried out online including the execution of Selangor e-Travel Fair, Social Media Campaign with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and digital and online advertising.

Other initiatives include the execution of Jelajah Pesona Selangor programme to other Malaysian States, as well as a number of tourism events planned in-line, to be executed coherently with the new norms which emphasises the SOPs as laid out by the Malaysian National Security Council.

On top of that, Tourism Selangor has also introduced Che Puan Juliana Evans as the Ambassador of the Eager to Travel? Pusing Selangor Dulu! campaign for a two-year appointment.

Che Puan Juliana Evans will be working hand-in-hand with Tourism Selangor in promoting the campaign initiatives and Selangor’s tourism gems on her dedicated social media platform. This appointment is coherent with Tourism Selangor’s vision to reach out to a larger audience base with a fresh and up-to-date alternative via the digital platform.
