Hong Leong Islamic Bank Awarded IRBA Excellence For Innovating Islamic Digital Banking Landscape

Hong Leong Islamic Bank (“HLISB” or the “Bank”) was recently recognised the IRBA Excellence Award 2020 for Islamic Digital Banking by the prestigious global Islamic Retail Banking Awards (“IRBA”) for being the front-runner in shaping innovative Islamic digital retail banking landscape in Malaysia.

Besides being awarded, HLISB also contributed significantly to provide a seamless digital banking experience convenient for Malaysians to onboard with this new adoption.

Chief Executive Officer of HLISB, Jasani Abdullah shared that the milestone reflects the Bank’s commitment in embracing a “digital-at-the-core” concept that puts customers at the center of the Bank’s products and services offerings.

“We are very honoured to win this award of excellence. It validates the trajectory and effort of our entire team aimed at achieving our goal of providing an unrivalled Shariah Compliant digital Islamic banking experience, combined with a human touch and empathy, which we believe adds value to the interaction and relationship we have with our customers,” said Jasani.

Notably, HLISB was the first Islamic Bank to enable Term Investment Account-i via a digital channel to substitute the traditional investment experience which extends the values of convenience and simplicity to deliver a significantly higher value-added customer experience.

The Bank launched its digital Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (“ASNB”) initiatives that allowed customers to purchase ASNB funds through HLB Connect, the Bank’s online platform in addition to upgrading the ASB Financing process at branches to make it easier for customers to submit applications via in-branch tablets.

HLISB also collaborated with Pusat Pungutan Zakat Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (“PPZ-MAIWP”) to enable a simpler and faster way for customers to fulfil the payment obligations by reducing the complexity of the online zakat payments process.

Not forgetting their social responsibility, they extended their collaboration with Zakat bodies in five states, namely in Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Sarawak. HLISB was approved as an official collection agent for Pusat Wakaf MAIWP, where customers can contribute Cash Wakaf via HLB Connect.
