Second Round For AstraZeneca Slots Appointment To Reopen On May 23 Across Selangor, KL, Penang, Sarawak And Johor

Coordinating Minister for National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin, has announced that the opt-in AstraZeneca appointment booking for the next batch will reopen on May 23 through online website bookings. 

Following the KJ statement for the vaccination expansion outside Klang Valley, this time it is extended for residents in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sarawak and Johor taking into consideration places with high rate of Covid-19 cases.

However, the second-round opt-in will be offered to the senior citizen aged 60 years and above.  As of now, the JKJAV has yet to reveal the number of vaccination centres and the appointment dates for the second round of voluntary vaccination program.

In addition to online website booking, the opt-in vaccination booking can be made via community clinic outreach and the elderly care homes.

Many who have registered for the first round’s waiting list have been assured that their AstraZeneca appointments will be in the next round, according to Khairy.

This month, Malaysia is expected to receive another one million AstraZeneca doses and this should increase the national vaccination rate.

Currently, the opt-in vaccination is being efficiently rolled with the smooth and fast transition by the administration with presented enforcement.

According to Bernama, The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force of Sarawak (CITF Sarawak) which initially opted not to include this vaccine has agreed to proceed with AstraZeneca in its immunisation rollout plan.

This is in response to the positive insight gained through vaccination survey conducted in Sarawak news portal. 

The survey found 69.4 percent of 1,037 respondents were in favor of giving Sarawakians the AstraZeneca vaccine, while 52.9 percent of 1,040 respondents wished to be vaccinated with it.

“Separate designated vaccination centres will be established and ready to offer the AstraZeneca vaccine to those who agreed to embrace it,  The operations will be announced in due course,” CITF Sarawak added.

To date, Malaysia has inoculated a total of 475,984 people under Phase two of the immunisation program which have received at least one dose of Pfizer or Sinovac vaccine.
