SOCAR Offers Private Cars For Inter State Travelers

With inter state travel ban now lifted, many travelers will be planning their journey immediately, however with the virus still at large there will be those reluctant to engage in public transport with large crowd. This is where SOCAR and TREVO will be playing a role.

Welcoming the recent announcement by Prime Minister on the reopening of the borders, SOCAR has stated that those who do not own cars may be concerned about being in close proximity with other commuters in crowded public transportation on a daily basis and perhaps worry about touching surfaces in crowded public areas, and thus exposing themselves and their family to possible infection. Here, it sees that the sharing economy is primed to fill the gap, by offering access to private cars on a temporary basis, through car sharing services like SOCAR or a people-to-people (P2P) car sharing marketplace like TREVO, thus empowering Malaysians who want to temporarily have a private vehicle for commuting or for longer trips.

As the economy reopens and interstate travel resumes, SOCAR believe that it will see a huge rebound in domestic tourism coupled with an increase in demand for land transport. More people will want to be able to drive to a destination of their choice and enjoy the freedom of having their own vehicle for the journey. SOCAR and TREVO will be primed to serve this increase in demand. If the pattern of demand in other countries is anything to go by, there is a potential for a rapid spike in demand, and the company is currently working on building up a reliable supply base as the country reopens for interstate travel.
