Pharmaniaga Collaborates With NIBM For Vaccine Research And Development

Pharmaniaga Research Centre Sdn Bhd has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia for collaboration in relation to vaccines’ research and development.

NIBM was established to catalyse the acceleration of the Malaysian biotechnology industry under the National Biotechnology Policy. The institution is responsible for promoting the knowledge-based economy through the establishment of a sustainable ecosystem of research, development, innovation, and commercialization in the areas of agriculture, pharmaceutical, and genomic biotechnology through its three institutes namely Agro-Biotechnology Institute Malaysia, Malaysian Institute of Pharmaceuticals, and Nutraceuticals and Malaysia Genome Institute.

The collaboration for the research and development of vaccines is seen to serve as a platform for Pharmaniaga to strengthen its vaccine business.

There is also much anticipation with Malaysia on its homegrown Covid-19 vaccines which has been announced by MOSTI Minister Dr Adham Baba and the Prime Minister Dato Seri Ismail Sabri lately. Is this collaboration a prelude to a Made-In-Malaysia COvid-19 vaccine from Pharmaniaga?
