Samaiden Secures Penang RM60 Million LSSPV Project From Bakateam

Samaiden the company that is primarily involved in the renewable energy space has secured another major deal, this time in Penang. The group has been awarded the LSSPV project under the Energy Commission’s Large Scale Solar Mentari LSS4 programme an RM60 million order from Bakateam Services Sdn Bhd.

Undertaking the EPPC part of the project, Samaiden is to develop a 15MWac LSSPV power plant in Seberang Perai Tengah, Pulau Pinang. The proposed activity shall take place in January on-site and is expected to complete within 11 months of job commencement.

There has been raised interest in solar energy for Penang, with extensive projects being initiated by both public and private sectors to reduce the dependency on coal and fossil-powered energy. The state houses some high technology manufacturing plants which consume a vast amount of power to operate.

With Seberang Perai LSSV, the solar energy returned back to the grid could ease some of these dependency and help Penang achieve its carbon emission targets.
