Bridge Data Centre Expands In Malaysia With A New RM2.5 Billion Data Centre

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority MIDA has confirmed that Bridge Data Centres, one of the region’s key data centre service providers headquartered in Singapore has announced the construction of its fourth hyperscale data centre (MY06), the largest of its kind in Johor, Malaysia.

According to MIDA, the investment value is estimated to be RM2.5 billion which will involve over the next 5 years. BDA is a subsidiary of Chindata Group a Nasdaq-listed carrier-neutral hyperscale data center solution provider in Asia-Pacific. As for the facility, Phase 1 of the project is to be completed by end of 2022 with Phase 2 expected to be in completion shortly thereafter. The main strategy for the Johor facility is to eventually to connect all Chindata Group data centres using dark fiber connectivity, linking with the Malaysian Cable Landing Station to increase the reach of global connection.

Bridge has 3 data centers in Malaysia with two in Cyberjaya and one in Bukit Jalil, the Johor campus will be located on 40 acres of land area, and will operate at a combined capacity of 100 MW IT load located strategically within Kidex Sedenak, the jewel component of the larger 7,290 acres of the Sedenak Technology Valley.

This will be the first of its kind large-scale investment in data centre for the country by international organisations, as most industry players prefer Singapore which is regarded to be more transparent and has better laws when it comes to data storage.
