They are inviting international visitors are invited to immerse the Hong Kong’s heritage, with a lineup of diverse events showcasing the city’s rich cultural traditions and innovative spirit.
From the debut of spectacular new pyrotechnic and drone shows to time-honored festivals steeped in history, they promise an unforgettable journey for visitors of all ages.
One of the highlights of the cultural calendar is the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, set to take place on May 15-16, 2024, on the picturesque island of Cheung Chau.
Additionally, Hong Kong will be organising the Tin Hau Festival, honoring the goddess of the sea. Tin Hau is known as another must-see event on May 1, 2024.
Buddha’s Birthday, celebrated on May 15, 2024, offers a day of reflection and spiritual renewal, with grand ceremonies held at Buddhist temples and monasteries across the city. Visitors can participate in the Buddha Bathing Ceremony at Po Lin Monastery or join the festivities at Victoria Park’s Buddha’s Birthday Carnival.
The Tam Kung Festival, also on May 15, 2024, honors the deity of seafarers and fishermen, with vibrant celebrations in the neighborhood of Shau Kei Wan. Colorful processions, lion dances, and traditional opera performances create a festive atmosphere, as devotees gather to seek blessings for safety at sea.
Adding to the excitement, there will be a thrilling new addition: the Pyrotechnic Display and Drone Show at Victoria Harbour. Kicking off on May 1, 2024, the pyrotechnic display promises to dazzle spectators with its innovative use of fireworks.
On May 11, just days before the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, Buddha’s Birthday, and the Tam Kung Festival, the newly curated drone show will take flight over Victoria Harbour, offering a mesmerizing spectacle against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline.
