Malaysian Airports Holding Berhad has issued a notice that some of the roads leading to KLIA area are affected by flood and rainwater and had been temporarily closed.
In a Facebook post, the airport operator is advising all passengers including airport staff that the main federal roads to KLIA from Putrajaya/Cyberjaya/ Dengkil/ Banting and Nilai have been closed due to flood. However, it had advised that those who still need to get to the airports can do so via the Elite Highway and exiting at the KLIA Toll.
As for those traveling within the airport vicinity, you can access the Elite Highway via Serenia City, or can use Jalan Pekeliling near SIC/ Staff Quarters KLIA. The rail service from KL Sentral is on schedule and currently active.
These past days saw a relentless downpour lasting 48 hours which has left many parts of Selangor district under emergency due to flood and rising levels of all main rivers in the state. This has mobilised the national disaster management team to some of the places that are reporting unseen water levels since the Great Flood in 1971.
The Prime Minister has addressed the nation and called for immediate action by all Ministries and agencies to deploy assets down to locations that are severely affected.
