Panasonic Fan And Vacuum Plant Affected By Flood

Panasonic Malaysia which has huge manufacturing facilities in Shah Alam has stated that its fan and vacuum SA2 plant is affected by the floodwaters that overwhelmed the whole vicinity during the 2 day non-stop rainfall.

The plant which is located 9 Jalan Pelabur 23/1, Seksyen 23, is the production facility for Panasonic fan and vacuum units, one of its fast-moving items. On the extent of damage, the electronics giant says it needs a week to assess the conditions of the machines and equipment that were affected by the floodwaters.

Shah Alam one of the worst-hit districts in Selangor sits along the Klang river which has been overflowing along the banks during the rainy weekend. Commercial and residential blocks along the river have been severely affected with some seeing water levels rise to the roof of their houses.

The company has also been informed that some of its suppliers were also affected by the flooding. As of now, the exact impact of the recent event cant be ascertained and how it will impact the third-quarter financial results.

However, Panasonic notes that the assets at SA2 Plant are adequately covered by insurance and has informed that its other operations of the other plant at Seksyen 15, Shah Alam has not been affected.
