Resetting Malaysia: EAC Secretariat Study Report To Drive National Economic Transformation

A group of economists led by the Executive Director of the Economic Action Council (EAC) Secretariat Prof Tan Sri Dato Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali has outlined eight change agendas in the document Resetting Malaysia: Aligning to The New Economic Landscape, for consideration by the government, as a strategic thrust to drive the country’s economic transformation in line with the new post-crisis economic landscape. It covers aspects of economic digitization, application of advanced technologies, formulating globalization strategies, strengthening shared responsibility, governance and sustainability, talent provision, empowerment of public services and fair and competitive markets, addressing vulnerabilities and corporate transformation.

The document is a report on the results of research from intensive engagement sessions and workshops with government ministries and agencies, the private sector, academics and stakeholders from various industries and institutions that have been held since last year.

“This approach is taken to ensure a conclusive and comprehensive proposal is made based on the experience, observations and views of all parties, especially in the wake of the economic crisis resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. The proposed changes focus on the structural aspects needed for Malaysia to continue to excel in line with the new economic landscape, ”said the Professor.

The 143-page document also lists 30 key focuses and 153 change initiatives recommended by the EAC Secretariat.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Dato ‘Sri Mustapa Mohamed and Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali handed over the document to Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob after the Economic Action Council meeting, today.
