AirAsia Group Proposes To Change Name To Capital A Berhad

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the AirAsia board is proposing to change the official name of the company from AirAsia Group Berhad to Capital A Berhad.

According to the group, the proposed name was approved by the Companies Commission of Malaysia and has already been reserved by the company.

The Proposed Change of Name is subject to the approval of the shareholders of the company at a general meeting to be convened at a date to be announced. A Circular to Shareholders with details of the Proposed Change of Name will be issued to the shareholders in due course.

The name change follows Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes who has been looking to transform the company from an airline entity to beyond especially in the realm of digital. AirAsia has pivoted into new business since the pandemic, from ride-hailing to ewallet and other digital solutions in its ambition to grow into a technology powerhouse.
