For 50 years, the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has been steadfast in its devotion to the people of Selangor in line with the passage of time which requires the adaptation of technology and innovation to remain relevant.
In conjunction with the five decades of its establishment, PKPS has held the Golden Jubilee Celebration Launching Ceremony held at Wisma PKPS, Shah Alam here today.
Selangor Menteri Besar, Dato ‘Seri Amirudin Shari in his speech expressed his appreciation to the staff of PKPS, including the previous leadership who charted the direction of the corporation until today.
“At the age of 50, the existence of PKPS has become an important part of the history of the state’s agricultural industry.
“During that period, PKPS has played a significant role in efforts to improve the living standards and socio-economy of the people of Selangor, especially farmers and small traders.” he said.
He added that since the beginning of its establishment, the evolution of PKPS from an organization that only focuses on oil palm cultivation has now expanded to the field of commercial corporate and marketing.
Thus, PKPS will play a broader role in facing the challenges of the post-Covid-19 pandemic.
“As a state agency that is also given the responsibility to lead food security initiatives, PKPS needs to formulate a sustainable strategy to ensure the food supply chain in the state is at an optimum level.” he said again.
PKPS Group CEO, Dr Mohamad Khairil Bin Mohamad Razi said in line with the experience and shift that became the focus of the Golden Jubilee celebration, the theme chosen was “Perkasa Pertanian Maden, Driving the Selangor Economy”.
“I am committed to continue to brand PKPS as an agency that is not only a catalyst for the agro-food industry in Selangor but also gains confidence at the State Government level as an agent implementing people’s initiatives.” he said when met here.
The future focus of PKPS, he said, was to assimilate technology and digitization in the agricultural sector.
“We are implementing several phases of digitization at all levels, especially in the agricultural sector based on the Internet of Things (iOT) framework, Artificial Intelligence and Real Time Analytics,” he explained.
According to Dr Khairil, several interesting programs have been planned to enliven the PKPS Golden Jubilee Celebration, among them, the PKPS Gold Jubilee Run 2022 and the Selangor Fruit Valley Carnival as well as several programs to sell fresh products such as vegetables and fruits.
During the event, there was also a launch of Ehsan’s fresh products such as fresh chicken, vegetables and fruits which will be marketed at the sales premises of Wisma PKPS, Shah Alam as well as several selected supermarkets as well as online sales.
