RM520 Million Perak Animation Theme Park Up For Sale As Advertised

The troubled theme park in Perak known as MAPS or Movie Animation Theme Park has now been put for sale after years of losses and poor management.

EY which was the appointed firm to manage the closure notice issues the advertisement in a local daily recently, this is on the back of the theme park being closed to the public since the pandemic. The park was created from a joint venture between Perak Corporation Berhad and the Sanderson Group and originally planned to be opened in 2015 but the opening date was delayed to June 2017

It was the first theme park with a fully animation-based concept in Asia, containing attractions from DreamWorks Animation and The Smurfs built at the cost of RM520 million. Visitors were also treated to local animation like Boboiboy and other creative works.

Built on a 52-acre land the park sits close to Perak Techno Trade Centre off Bandar Meru Jaya and was the biggest highlight in the State until visitor numbers dropped and changes in operating hours confused patrons.

For those interested, can reach out to EY and discuss terms the park sits on freehold land.
