FTSE BM KLCI Elevated by Heavyweights of Plantation, Energy, Banking

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 3 –Bursa Malaysia ended in positive territory on Thursday with the CI buoyed by heavyweights of plantation, banking, energy and Metal. KLCI is expected drift around the range of 1,590-1,610 by the influx of foreign fund in local equities. All major Asian equities markets rebounded cautiously today after the head of the Federal Reserve said he supports a smaller rise in interest rates than some expected. Also the news of second Ukraine-Russia meeting in Belarus might have sparked a relief rally in stock markets.

** Bursa Malaysia closed higher on Thursday, the FTSE BM KLCI up 20.44  or  1.28% at 1,618.54 .

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1608.69. The index fluctuated between 1,600.18 – 1,618.54.

** 433 counters are gainers,  408 counters are unchanged, while 531 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 3,433,834,900 recorded; while Turnover of RM3,760,872,651 .

** The Top 5 Gainers : KLK (29.00, +1.60) ; PETDAG (21.26, +1.14) ; UTDPLT (15.64, +0.44) ; BKAWAN (27.60, +0.42) ; AIRPORT (6.33, +0.23)

** The Top 5 Losers : NESTLE (135.40, -0.90) ; KESM (10.08, -0.42) ; PMBTECH-WA (15.20, -0.38) ; F&N (22.60, -0.38) ; HLCAP (6.25, -0.30)

** The Top 5 Most Active Stocks : DNEX (1.08, -0.06) ; HIBISCS (1.30, +0.08) ; VS (0.96, -0.14) ; SMTRACK (0.20, -0.02) ; ARMADA (0.485, +0.02)

** Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) rose 15.28 or  +0.47% to 3,259.68 ; Hong Kong’s HSI Index up 123.42 points or +0.55% at 22,467.34;  Japan’s Nikkei 225 advanced 184.24 or 0.70% at 26,577.27 ; and Korea’s KOSPI rose 43.56 points or +1.61% to 2,747.08;  Shanghai Stock Exchange down 3.08 points or -0.088% at 3,481.11; Australia’s All Oridnaries up 40.50 points or +0.55% to 7,446.80.
