FTSE BM KLCI Nosedive As the Stagflation Risk Heightened; Most Asian Equity Markets Slumped

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 7 –Bursa Malaysia closed broadly lower on Monday as the market slumped over concerns of stagflation with oil price peaked at USD130. Asian Equities markets have witnessed a bloodbath on Monday following the escalation of military activity in Ukraine during the weekend as those markets were going through a broad-based selling.

** Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Monday, the FTSE BM KLCI nosedived 31.38 or  -1.96% at 1,572.56 .

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,606.27 . The index fluctuated between 1,565.57 –  1,606.56.

** 152 counters are gainers,  234 counters are unchanged, while 1,085 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 4,358,983,900 recorded; while Turnover of RM3,751,507,190 .

** The Top 5 Gainers : NESTLE (135.90, +0.50) ; HSI-HM1 (2.06, +0.37) ; HSI-HMZ (1.23, 0.365) ; HSI-HEB (1.71, +0.29) ; HSI- HB6 (1.18, +0.23)

** The Top 5 Losers : MPI (30.86, -1.86) ; BKAWAN (26.26, -0.70) ; F&N (21.60, -0.66) ; PANAMY (27.38, -0.66) ; KESM (9.35, -0.65)

** The Top 5 Most Active Stocks : DNEX (0.93, -0.09) ; HIBISCS (1.34, +0.10) ; SMTRACK (0.17, -0.025) ; ARMADA (0.45, UNCHANGED) ; BORNOIL (0.025, -0.005)

** Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) declined 35.61 points or  -1.1% to 3,191.17 ; Hong Kong’s HSI down 847.66 points or -3.87% at 21,057.63;  Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined 764.06 points or -2.94% at 25,221.41; and Korea’s KOSPI dropped 62.12 points or -2.29% to 2,651.31;  Shanghai Stock Exchange rose 74.79 points or 2.17% at 3,372.86; Australia’s All Oridnaries shed 74.10 points or -1% to 7,321.20
