China Smartphone Sales Rose Mildly To 30.87 million In January

China’s smartphone market is seeing a steady recovery with January registering 0.4% growth recording total sales of 30.87 million units shipped.

On a month-on-month basis, smartphone sales volume rose by 38.6 percent from December 2021, a staggering leap as many Chinese look to refresh their devices in time for the New Year celebration.

As for brands, domestic smartphone maker Oppo took the top spot with its sales up 42.6 percent from a month ago, while Vivo followed with an increase of 55.8 percent. Oppo has been on the rise ever since Huawei lost its position as the preferred mobile device, this is also due to it being a robust android smartphone which Huawei no longer has. However, sub-brand Honor has maintained tremendous growth momentum as its sales went up 242.9 percent from a year earlier, the largest year-on-year growth among the top five brands.

Apple, on the other hand, is holding fourth place with the sales climbing by 11.4 percent year-on-year, followed by Chinese brand Xiaomi.
