TM Gears For 5G Rollout With DNB In Line With SWN Decision

With the dust settling on the network model of choice for 5G, TM says it welcomes the Government’s decision to continue with the Single Wholesale Network (SWN) model for the deployment of 5G in the country.

The group which was an early signatory with Digital Nasional Berhad on the fibre backhaul will be gearing for the massive rollout moving forward after the cabinet’s decision on retaining SWN over DWN model proposed by MNOs.

In this regard, TM believes the decision reflects the national aspiration for an inclusive digital Malaysia and that the SWN model reflects the shared responsibility to meet the collective objectives of 5G for Malaysia. The national telecommunication service provider also expects the telcos to focus on investing and developing innovative 5G products and solutions for end customers, while DNB will focus on network-build towards faster rollout of coverage and capacity in a cost-efficient manner.

TM says it is committed to providing the fiber backhaul setting a good example in a public-private partnership in the rollout of critical telecommunications infrastructure to boost economic development and enhance the well-being of all Malaysians.

Efforts to kick start rollout are underway, as the group is currently undertaking internal customer and network trials to bring fiber plus 5G services to its unifi and TM ONE customers once TM has finalised its wholesale agreement with the DNB.
