Selangor Will Be Given Priority For The 5G Network Update; Annuar Musa

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) will lead the state of Selangor in efforts to implement and upgrade the 5G service network, said its Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

“Under the National Digital Network Program (JENDELA), there are three ongoing programs, the first is to add new telecommunication towers for 4G, while for the upgrade of telecommunication towers to 5G, the state of Selangor will be given priority,” he said.

He said the other two programs under JENDELA included increasing the number of homes with fiber optic connections, and upgrading the transmitter system from 3G to 4G.

He said under the JENDELA program, Selangor received a high allocation of RM5.34 billion, to upgrade the telecommunication system in the state.

He said through the allocation, a total of 313 new telecommunication towers had been completed so far in the state, while another 35 towers were under construction.

“In addition, a total of 7,197 transmitter systems have been upgraded to 4G, and a total of 652 are under implementation.

A total of 419,896 premises now have fiber optic connections while the installation of another 196,422 premises is being implemented, “he said at a moreh ceremony with representatives of agencies and departments under K-KOMM and strategic partners in Selangor, here last night.

Meanwhile, for the Malaysian Family Digital Economy Center (PEDi) initiative, he said any State Assembly constituency in Selangor that was not yet equipped with PEDi, was asked to apply to the ministry for immediate approval.

So far, 48 PEDi have been established and started operating in Selangor.
