Asian Stocks Struggled for New Direction; Cengild Fetches a 40% Premium at Closing

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 18 –Bursa Malaysia closed in negative territory on Monday as the KLCI is seen as hovering around the immediate support level of 1,586.50-point. Trading volume was thin as investors remained cautious as the local bourse struggled for new direction. While ASX, HKEX and SGX were closed for the Easter holiday. Meanwhile, Japan, Korea and Shanghai stocks were closed in red. China saw faster-than-expected GDP growth in Q122, with GDP registered an increase of 4.8%, above expectations for a 4.4% YoY. However, retail sales in March, fell by a more-than-anticipated 3.5% as compared with a year earlier.

Cengild Medical made its debut on the ACE market today. This niche medical service provider has its medical centre located at Nexus@ Bangsar. The counter has an intra-day high of RM0.51 and low of RM0.42. With its closing price of RM0.465 which translating a premium of approximately 40% of the IPO price. Total volume was 162,809,100, which took the Top 2 spot for active stocks traded today.
