Asian Equities Markets Closed Mostly Higher

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 28 –Bursa Malaysia closed on a positive note Thursday buoyed by buying interest in defensive plays and selected heavyweights as well as following the mixed cues from overnight Wall Street performance.  Meanwhile, Asia Pacific stock markets closed mostly higher as investors were on a bargain-hunting after the recent sell-off, even though the sentiment remained cautious amid concerns about inflationary pressures, Covid-induced economic slowdown and the looming rate hikes.

** the FTSE BM KLCI climbed 11.33 points or  +0.71% at 1,597.31 .

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,593.62 . The index fluctuated between 1,590.17 – 1,600.60.

** 584 counters are gainers,  436 counters are unchanged, while 354 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 2,488,857,700 recorded; while Turnover of RM2,194,087,780.

** Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) up 21.04 points or +0.63% to 3,341.71 ; Hong Kong’s HSI leaped 329.81 points or +1.65% at 20,276.17;  Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumped 461.27 points  or 1.75% at 26,847.90; and Korea’s KOSPI rose 28.43 points or +1.08% to 2,667.49 ;  Shanghai’s SSE Index up 17.20 points or 0.58% at 2,975.40; Australia’s All Ordinaries rose 95.40 points or +1.26% to 7,642.40
