Labour Day Holiday Moved To May 4

The government has decided to move the May 1 Labour Day holiday to May as the replacement day coincides with Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday which has been confirmed for May 2 and May 3.

Labour Day which fell on Sunday would in normal circumstances be given a holiday the following day which is Monday, however, since the Keeper of the Rulers Seal confirmed for the Muslim holiday to start on Monday the Labour Day holiday is now moved to May 4.

The rescheduling does not apply for Kelantan, Kedah, Terengganu and Johor whereby Sunday is a working day, the Federal Government will also respect the decisions of the respective states if they decided to move the dates.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister.
