Hong Kong Eases Covid 19 Curbs, Bars Open Till 2 am

Hong Kong which was under strict curfew and lockdown due to Covid-19 clusters has abandoned the Zero Policy concept adopted from China and is easing restrictions in the island city.

Outgoing Chief Carrie Lam has been easing most of the restrictions despite cases being at a low 300, the numbers were at four digits just weeks ago when the healthcare system was stressed to the limit until Beijing stepped in with its makeshift quarantine centres.

Dining groups have been increased from 4 to 8, with plans to reopen karaoke rooms and other activities to take place after Mid May.

The city’s people endured the most extreme lockdowns in the region, with borders closed and its official airline Cathay Pacific yet to take full flight. Businesses have been severely affected and most have either closed or laid-off workers during the lockdowns.

Hong Kong has recorded more than 1.2 million cases and over 9300 deaths since the pandemic began.
