Singapore Accepts Only Online VEP Applications, Cuts Processing Time To Just 5 Working Days

The Singapore Land Transport Authority says the processing time for vehicle entry permits has been reverted back to 5 working days from the previous 3 weeks as the City sees fewer applications.

Foreign registered vehicles namely those from Malaysia, require a valid VEP to enter Singapore. Ever since the border reopened between the two countries, many Malaysians made a beeline into the State after not being able to see their families or just visiting since 2020. However, the long process required for the VEP application caused frustrations with some opting to take public transport or even flight.

LTA added that it had received 165,000 applications on Friday, May 6 out of which 160,000 have been processed with the outcome announced ahead of the scheduled time. With the decrease in processing time coming down to just 5 days, applicants will still be notified of the processing time when they apply for the permits. The Authority had also informed all applications must be submitted online as it will no longer accept applications at checkpoints.

Before entering Singapore, vehicles need to ensure they have LTA’s VEP approval email and valid Autopass before they travel. Those without Autopass can apply online and refer to LTA’s VEP approval email to collect their Autopass card at LTA’s Johor Baharu centre.
