Asia-Pacific Stock Markets Mostly Slumped

Kuala Lumpur, May 6 –Bursa Malaysia closed broadly lower on Friday tracked the losses of Wall Street as well as that of the major markets in the Asia Pacific region. Market breadth remained negative with losers outpaced gainers, amidst low trading volume. The bell-weathered index slumped another 1% today, hit the lowest point in one-month period. While the Asia-Pacific stocks bathed in red at the closing today, Japan’s stock market was the only one which bucked the overall trend today, after returning from holidays. Headlines from the global rating agency Fitch suggesting that monetary tightening poses medium-term risks to Japan’s debt dynamics seem to have favored the Japanese equity markets of late.
