In line with the decision of the Cabinet on May 23 regarding measures to stop the export of poultry effective June 1, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) through the Department of Quarantine and Inspection Services Malaysia (MAQIS) will ensure no export activities of the commodity through the following controls:
a. Permit approvals covering the export of live chicken, round chicken carcasses, chicken meat cuttings and chicken -based food products are no longer issued as in Table 1. All permit approvals to take out such commodities from 1 June 2022 are revoked and blocked.
b. Physical control at all exits is implemented by MAQIS enforcement officers and any activity to export the commodity is not allowed. The export consignment of such commodities must be managed accordingly by the permit holder.
If there is a breach, action under subsections 11 (2) and 11 (3), Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 [Act 728] may be taken if convicted, a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 6 years or both -Both. While for the second or subsequent offense, a fine not exceeding RM150,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years or both.
