Government To Implement B40 TVET Scholarship Program With RM36.41 Million For Each Intake

At least 55 percent of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates are targeted to further their studies in the TVET program by 2025.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob explained that it is in line with what is stipulated in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“Accordingly, the accreditation, recognition, and certification aspects of TVET programs need to be improved.

“Disclosure should be implemented from a young age so that our children are more literate about the potential of TVET career paths,” he said when officiating the National TVET Week 2022 here today.

The government’s concern for TVET, he said, was highlighted by the high funding, with 80 per cent of public TVET providers offering TVET programs for free.

At the same time, the government also agreed to implement the B40 TVET Scholarship Program.

“To increase the motivation and encouragement of students to choose the field of TVET, the government has agreed to implement the B40 TVET Scholarship Program, specifically for B40 students who study in the field of TVET at IPTA under the supervision of KPT this year,” he added.

He said the first intake would involve 1,000 students with the government expecting the program to involve financial implications of RM36.41 million for each intake.

However, he is confident that the program will be able to offer more opportunities to youths in the country, especially from the B40 group to get access to higher education.
