Indonesian Leader Pushing G7 Nations For Solutions On Food And Energy Crises

Indonesian leader, President Jokowi who attended the G7 Summit for Partner Countries has called on the elite nations grouping to address the global food and energy crises that are plaguing the people right now.

The gathering currently taking place will be an opportune time to bring up issues on food and supply chain which are among the topics discussed at the G7 Summit. “(At the summit) we will encourage G7 member countries to work together to find a solution to the food and energy crises engulfing the world,” he said.

The meeting will also aim to find a peaceful solution to the Ukraine-Russia war that is not only causing much grief to the people of both nations but to the world as well.

Realising that the peaceful solution to the Ukraine-Russia war is not easy, he said Indonesia will encourage Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold dialogs.

“With the same mission, I will call on President Putin to hold a dialog and agree on a ceasefire and stop the war as soon as possible,” he said.

The worrying problem of global inflation, food, and energy crises stems from the monetary policies introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic, measures introduced to boost economies during the lockdowns are coming back in a vicious form of inflation and rise of commodity prices. However, this has been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine.
