Effective July 4, Malaysian citizens returning to the country will no longer need to fill out and complete the traveler’s pass features in the MySejahtera application, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
For a start, he said the repeal would only apply to Malaysian citizens before being expanded in stages to social pass holders, student passes and permanent residents.
“This relaxation is to make it easier for our citizens to return to Malaysia, in addition to the health system is now at a good and satisfactory level,” he said in a statement today.
Khairy said the features of the traveler’s pass were still displayed on the MySejahtera application and needed to be completed by non-Malaysian travelers before entering the country.
“Apart from monitoring COVID-19 cases among foreign travelers, these features need to be completed by them so that the Malaysian Ministry of Health is able to closely monitor other infectious diseases from abroad such as smallpox,” he said.
Previously, the government stipulated that travelers to Malaysia, including citizens and non-citizens, had to fill out a traveler’s pass, to ensure that travelers complete a health declaration form and in addition to issuing Home Surveillance and Observation (HSO) Orders.
