Asian Stocks Headed South Whilst KLCI Bucked the Regional Trend

Kuala Lumpur, July 14 – Bursa Malaysia mixed on Thursday with the barometer index edged up marginally by 0.62% or 6.74 points with the closing o 1,420.06. This however bucked the regional trend and overnight Wall Street performance. The KLCI was lifted by dip-buying. Most the the Asian market headed south today as US inflation surged to fresh 41 years high. 

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,408.83. The index fluctuated between 1,408.83– 1,420.06.

** 332 counters are gainers, 421 counters are unchanged, while 454 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 2,005,578,500 shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM 1,201,602,890

** The Top 5 Gainers: BKAWAN (21.96, +0.54) ; COMPLET (3.79, +0.28) ; MPI (27.56, +0.28) ; MISC (6.75, +0.21) ; PPB (15.88, +0.20)

** The Top 5 Losers: NESTLE (134.00, -0.40) ; AJI (11.80, -0.30) ; KLK (20.74, -0.24) ; AEONCR (13.54, -0.24) ; TAANN (3.51, -0.20)

** The Top 5 Most Active Stocks: MTRONIC (0.09, +0.02) ; BSLCORP-WA (0.10, +0.06) ; MTRONIC-WB (0.215, +0.10) ; TWL (0.6, -0.005) ; TOPGLOV (1.02, +0.01)

** Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) down 35.96 points or -1.15% to 3,092.73 ;  Hong Kong’s HSI ceded 86.45 points or -0.42% at 20,711.50; Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 164.62 points or +0.62% at 26,643.39 ; Korea’s Kospi Index dropped 6.29 points or -0.27% at 2,322.32; Shanghai’s SSE Index down 2.55 points or -0.08% at 3,281.74 ; Australia’s All Ordinaries index up 40.80 points or +0.60% at 6,848.60.
