IGEM 2022 to Attract More Green Investments for Malaysia

The Minister of Environment and Water , Tuan Ibrahim , today officiated the soft-launch of the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia 2022 (IGEM 2022) which will be supported by Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), an agency under the Ministry of Environment and Water.

This event is held every year since 2010, while this year, IGEM 2022 which will be organized physically and is expected to be officiated by The Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The theme of IGEM 2022 is “Towards Clean Zero Carbon: Fulfilling Sustainable Commitments Development Goals (SDG) & environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) “, IGEM 2022 will be held from 12 to 14 October 2022 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).

After two (2) years of being organized virtually, IGEM 2022 is expected to draw balance 30,000 visitors and generating business prospects is estimated at RM3 billion. The three (3) days exhibitions and conferences will feature experts from
various industries, including government representatives, technology leaders, pioneers, academics and entrepreneurs are expected to contribute and share their respective experiences.

The minister also stressed in his speech that Malaysia is heading towards a greener economy and implementing initiatives to keep our country ready for the future. This is in line with Malaysia’s target to become a net zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission country (net-zero GHG emissions) as early as 2050. IGEM 2022 is also included provide a platform to local industries to expand their potential business to ASEAN markets, showcase the latest innovations, explore new opportunities,
creating smart networks and partnerships that can create methods new solutions and technologies needed towards sustainable development.
