KPDNHEP Reviewing Beauty Industry Guidelines

According to the Dewan Rakyat, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) is actively examining and improving the Beauty Industry Guidelines released in 2013.

Datuk Rosol Wahid, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, said various interaction sessions had been conducted with industry players and the Health Ministry (MOH), including the Association of International Certified Aestheticians (AICA).

“The proposed enhancements to the Beauty Sector Guidelines are consistent with KPDNHEP’s responsibility as the ministry responsible for the unregulated industry, which is to encourage the growth of the beauty industry in this nation based on current laws and legislation,” he stated.

New Solid Waste Management Policy Being Developed

The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) is nearing the completion of a new strategy and direction for the country’s solid waste management in order to speed the country’s transition from a linear to a circular economy.

According to Minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican said KPKT is also evaluating the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (Act 672) to improve the aspects of the circular economy as a whole.

106 Geographical Indications To Protect Intellectual Property

According to the Dewan Rakyat, 106 Geographical Indications have been filed in Malaysia to safeguard intellectual property.

According to Datuk Rosol Wahid, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, 92 Local Geographical Items have been registered owing to their value to local businesses that create and market agricultural, handicraft, and food products.

Geographical indicators are directly tied to rural economic prosperity in bringing items related to a place’s physical environment, such as Sarawak pepper, Sabah tea, Bario rice and Perlis Harumanis mangoes, adorned rickshaws, belacan, and Asam Pedas Melaka,” he stated.
