Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri created history at the United Nations General Assembly when he delivered his National Statement speech at the assembly in Bahasa Malaysia.
Clad in traditional baju Melayu, Ismail Sabri is the first Prime Minister to address the assembly and speak in the national language. The only other person to do so was Tun Dr Ismail back in 1957 after Malaya gained its independence, being the first Malaya UN envoy he proudly spoke in Bahasa on the international stage.
This time around, Ismail Sabri and his whole entourage including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah were clad in baju Melayu and traditional batik.
