Dato Seri Azmin Ali To Represent PM At Shinzo Abe Funeral Ceremony

Malaysia’s Foreign Minister has confirmed that Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, will represent the Prime Minister of Malaysia at the State Funeral Ceremony for the late H.E. Shinzo
Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan on 27 September 2022 at Nippon Budokan, Tokyo.

The Senior Minister will be accompanied by officials of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo during the ceremony. He will have a greeting session with H.E. Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan in the presence of H.E. Hirokazu Matsuno, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan and H.E. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan followed by a brief occasion with
Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of H.E. Abe to extend condolences at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo.

During his tenure as the Prime Minister of Japan, Abe visited Malaysia three times and played an instrumental role in enhancing bilateral relations including strengthening further the Look East Policy. His last visit to Malaysia as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan was to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the LEP during which H.E. Abe had a meeting with the PM and audience with the King in March 2022.
