FBM KLCI Eased at Mid Day

Bursa Malaysia ended the Monday morning session by eased slightly, the barometer index FBM KLCI shed 2.91 points to 1,391.72 from last Friday’s closing of 1,394.63.

The index is shrouded in the cautious mood as the investors were following the negative cue from the weak global equity market performance on the last day of third quarter. 

Market showed an overwhelmingly negative breadth with decliners trounced advancers 534 to 189, while 331 counters were unchanged. Also trading volume was thin, registered at 950.07 million units and trading value worth RM601.57 million. 

The external macroeconomic variables are weighing on the sentiment of local bourse, namely the recession risk, energy crisis in Europe with the Nord Stream sabotage, weak Chinese renminbi and the US Federal Reserve’s (Fed) hawkish policy.

Some of the top gainers for the morning session were Nestle Malaysia, PETRONAS Dagangan, Panasonic Manufacturing, DKSH, Teck Guan Perdana.

Meanwhile some of the top decliners Dutch Lady Milk, MPI, KESM Industries, Batu Kawan, Carlsberg.
