Firefly Resumes Its Service to Banda Aceh

Firefly will recommence its services to Banda Aceh (BTJ) from Penang (PEN) effective today. The airline will operate flights four times weekly on newly refurbished Boeing 737-800 jets.

“The gradual recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in both countries has recently helped increase international tourist visits. It shows a great demand from the market, especially around the ASEAN region,” Firefly Chief Executive Officer, Philip See said. Firefly is an airline under Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).

“Hence, we are excited to recommence the service to and from Banda Aceh, looking at the success of Phuket and Seletar recently. This will further boost connectivity and flexibility for customers bound to and from Penang, as these services will bring new experiences via Boeing 737-800s jet,” he added.

Banda Aceh is the capital city in the Aceh Province and is now progressively developed with several landmarks, monuments, attractions, and events. This includes well-known names such as The Grand Mosque of Baiturrahman, The Aceh Tsunami Museum, Lampuuk Beach and many more.

Firefly’s last service to BTJ was on 22 March 2020 via ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft with a capacity of 72 seats. This route, Penang to Aceh carries the flight number FY3510 with flight frequency of Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, at 1050hrs – 1110hrs.
