(Just In): Chicken Export Ban To Be Lifted From October 11

The Malaysian Government is said to lift the chicken export ban on October 11 after Singapore Food Agency confirmed it had received official notice from the Malaysian Department of Veterinary Services.

We welcome the resumption of live chicken broiler imports, and are seeking clarification on the details,” said SFA.

While there was no information released by the various local Ministries involved in controlling poultry produce, the Singapore agency however is thrilled that the ban is being lifted based on the notification.

Malaysia took a drastic step in controlling chicken price hikes by banning export, the action took poultry farmers by surprise including neighboring importers in Singapore who depend on local farmers for their staple.

The formation of Special Force Jihad Against Inflation headed by Communication Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa had informed earlier that the price of eggs and chicken had stabilised with capacity being above 100%. He also told reporters, there will be an announcement soon on the lifting of the ban.
