Asian Stock Markets Closed in Mixed Whilst FBM KLCI Ended Flat Ahead of Release of Major Data

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 27 – Bursa Malaysia closed almost flattish today with the bell-weathered index FBM KLCI fell 0.89 of a point or -0.06% at 1,454.09. The index was directionless while waiting for release of major data.

Meanwhile, Asian bourses ended mixed ahead of an update on the U.S. economy and a European Central Bank (ECB) meeting that is expected to raise its key interest rate to a 13-year high.

According to consensus, U.S. government data will show the economic growth in the 3Q ending in September after two quarters of contraction. Whilst, other indicators including housing sales suggest activity is cooling following rate hikes to rein in stubbornly high inflation.

The ECB is expected to raise its benchmark lending rate by up to 0.75 percentage points.

As for Wall Street performance overnight, Wall Street fell after tech companies reported disappointing quarterly results.
